Favourite way to practice French
I stay in good contact through email and Skype with francophone friends that I’ve met throughout my studies and travels, in both Quebec and France. I listen to French radio online, and have set my Facebook account and browser’s homepage to French.
Why I think bilingualism is so important
Being able to speak another language opens up a world of opportunities, on both personal and professional levels. As French is one of the most prominent languages on the globe, it gives you a sharp edge in today’s world by opening up a unique career and travel opportunities. It opens up the mind, as it allows you to better understand other cultures, and also your own. Language can also touch the soul, as language is art, and art definitely inspires!
Favourite Food
The more variety the better! I love trying new dishes and specialities that come from all over.
Favourite French expression
‘Ben, oui!’ A simple expression, yet so charming to the Anglophone ear!
Favourite Francophone artists
Zaza Fournier, Wax Tailor, Les Cowboys Fringants, and Slam poetry artists such as Grand Corps Malade
Favourite activities
Travel, Languages, Documentaries, Spinning, Yoga
How Kristy arrived at French for the Future
Kristy’s keen interest in the French language set her on a path in which she’s been able to pursue several French cultural and linguistic programs over the years. After finishing a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and French Studies at Concordia University in Montréal. She decided to pack up for France where she worked as a Language Instructor for 2 very culturally fulfilling years. Her motivation to continually immerse herself in French environments and her goal to become fluent in French have definitely paid off.
A Francophile at heart, Kristy is delighted to share and use her past experiences in French to motivate students to pursue a path towards French and to gain the enriching experiences that she has had the opportunity to make an important part of her life.
