Are you an athlete? Are you passionate about the arts? Do you have leadership qualities? Or simply, is the French language of importance in your life?
If any of your answers were “YES!”, then perhaps the Canadian Francophone Games might interest you. The next Games will be held from
July 20-24 2011 in Grand Sudbury, Ontario. Participants must be between 13 and 18 years of age and either be Canadians citizens or hold permanent residency in the country. It is also a requirement for candidates to have a strong working knowledge of the French language in order to be eligible to participate.
Since 1999, the Games have been bringing together youth from all over Canada to appreciate the culture with the help of different programs. Each province and territory will have their own delegation with their own teams. This initiative was undertaken by the French Canadian Youth Federation.
The Canadian Francophone Games offer numerous activities in different program areas. There are sporting events, leadership workshops and arts competitions.
If you are interested in participating, you need to sign-up with your delegation and recruitment officers will make their selections. Keep in mind that the door is always open for volunteers!
You can access more information about the games (in French) at
