Emily Jarvis

Sackville, New Brunswick

Grade 11, Tantramar Regional High School, French Immersion

First language : English

For me, bilingualism is important because I am Canadian and to speak the two official languages allows me to understand everyone around me.  It's important to be aware of what is happening in the Anglophone world as well as the Francophone one.  Also, my family is, for the most part, French.  To be able to identify myself with both my Anglophone and Francophone parts of my family is very important.  That is why bilingualism is important to me.

My dream : I would like to go to university to take Sciences. After, I will enrol in a medical studies program to eventually become a medical researcher.

How I practice French daily : I often speak French with my sister and other bilingual members of my family.  I listen to French music and I take a French class at school.

Favourite French expression: « Avoir des poils dans la main. »

Favourite hobby : Playing guitar and singing.
