So you want to study in French?

Published by Le français pour l'avenir on 15 November 2011

The Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages has offered a new tool on its website for those interested in studying French after high school. The interactive map on the site makes finding a post-secondary institution that offers the kind of French education any student might be looking for much easier. This is a great tool for students who don’t know which colleges and universities offer French programs or where these schools are.

Whether you want to stay close to home or travel as far as you can, this interactive map makes it easy for you to find a post-secondary institution in whichever region you are most interested in studying. Once you’ve found a school on the map, you can click on it and the site will list the programs that the school offers in French, as well as what kind of extra-curricular activities you can find in French. Most schools seem to have French theatres and cinemas, and encourage French spoken in residences even if they don’t have a long list of programs offered in French.

Students might be surprised by how many opportunities they have available to them to study in both of Canada’s official languages and expand their linguistic horizons!
