The Regina French for the Future Forum was a success! On Thursday, November 18, 2010, 140 students for the Regina Region gathered at the Institut français of the University of Regina for a day filled with interactive workshops and presentations.
The highlights of the Forum were a presentation by Gaetan Benoit, television director at Radio-Canada, and singer-songwriter Alexis Normand's performance. Their stories inspired Francophones and francophiles alike to pursue their studies in French.
The students participated in many activities focused on the benefits of being bilingual in Canada. Here are some of their comments, that reflect the importance and value of the French language to the fransaskois youth:
"The provinces should make more efforts to encourage every student to learn the two official languages. There should be more French and Immersion schools."
"We should be able to receive services in French everywhere in Canada! We shoudln't forget to request them!"
"We should not be afraid to be proud of being bilingual."
"There should be more events organized by French for the Future."
A big thank you to Assemblée communautaire fransaskoise, l'Institut français of the University of Regina, Canadian Parents for French of Saskatchewan, le Conseil des écoles fransaskoises, and our primary sponsor Canadian Heritage.
