Published by French for the Future on 29 June 2010

So you've just aced your French exam and it's finally summer break!  But don't let the year’s effort go to waste: keep your French from getting rusty with these handy tips sent in by students across the country.

Go to a French camp

Camp Multi-arts in Edmonton
Eko Camp in Mont-Tremblant
Camp les Nomades bilingual cycling camp in various areas of Eastern Canada
Bring your family along to BC Family French Camp
CPF offers summer camps across the country

Enrol in a summer immersion program

Look up Francophone centres and the Alliance française in your area for French Summer Programs
The Learning Traveller offers Programs in Montreal and Quebec

Watch movies and television shows in French
When it's too hot to go outside, rent a DVD or stream francophone tv shows on tou.tv!

Find local francophone events

There are lots of festivals going on in French across the country.  Why not attend or even volunteer?
Festival acadien de Caraquet and Foire brayonne (New Brunswick)
Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France (Quebec)
Frog Folies (Manitoba)
Festival de la Curd (Ontario)

Listen to French summer songs

Maybe a little bit of RnB?

Read in French

There are so many great books to read! Check out novels by Dominique Demers or Chrystine Brouillet… and our favourite comic book series, Astérix!

Review what you learned in French class during the year

There’s nothing like conjugating verbs while white water rafting.

Practise
Find other people who speak French and talk to each other!

Travel

If you have saved up, you could go on a trip to France or visit a francophone area like Quebec City, Montreal or Gaspé?
